The 16-Character Mantra for Courting Women
Christmas Eve, alone.
The internet is never lonely—there are always many people online. A few friends are around, and I wonder silently: Why would a beautiful girl be free tonight? But I dare not ask directly—just chat aimlessly.
Approaching midnight, only Shi Ying remains.
She suddenly asks: “How did you court girls back in college?”
The question stuns me momentarily—but my mouth responds instantly: “Me? I was amazing!”
She presses on immediately: “Tell me! I really want to know what boys are thinking. I’m genuinely curious!”
At that moment, my brain launches a thorough search of my college-era romantic experiences. First, I ask myself: “Did I ever court anyone?” The answer is definite—yes! Then: “How exactly did I do it?” Hmm… no clear answer emerges. Suddenly—a flash of inspiration—and the 16-character mantra appears:
“Persuade with reason, move with emotion; captivate with charisma, entice with gifts.”
She collapses on the spot—but still patiently listens as I “elaborate.” Since the thesis is now laid out, supporting arguments must be rigorous and compelling. So begins a tightly reasoned, logical exposition—the kind at which STEM students excel:
First, persuade with reason. Here, “reason” refers not merely to “logic,” but to rationality and clarity of thought—demonstrating to the girl that the boy is rational, trustworthy, articulate, and someone she can confide in—not some naive youth. Girls naturally gravitate toward mature, responsible men who inspire security and emotional reliance.
Second, move with emotion. Love rests fundamentally on genuine feeling; without it, love cannot exist. A boy’s feelings toward a girl must run deep—rooted in affection, desire, protectiveness, and lifelong commitment. When such inner emotion bursts outward authentically, it moves her! And the channel of that emotion may be disarmingly simple: a single phrase, a glance, a gesture—for instance, holding her hand tightly while crossing the street; walking her home and waiting until her apartment light flickers on before leaving; or, if unable to accompany her, reminding her to stay safe and asking her to text “arrived safely” upon reaching home… After all, hearts are made of flesh and blood!
Third, captivate with charisma. Here, “charisma” doesn’t mean merely handsome or dashing looks—nor does it refer to effeminate “pretty boys.” While most women are visually oriented and drawn to strong, confident appearances, true charisma encompasses both inner and outer qualities: dressing and behaving like a man—exuding masculine presence, decisiveness, responsibility, optimism, humor, positivity, empathy, and tenderness. It’s the image of a resolute yet compassionate man—firm yet gentle, steady yet passionate—that most powerfully captivates women.
Fourth, entice with gifts. “Marry a man, marry sustenance”—food and clothing matter. In truth, women naturally desire material security; such desire is perfectly normal. Without meeting basic survival needs, how can happiness exist? If a man is capable, financially stable, and generous—willing to spend thoughtfully on his girlfriend—she’ll certainly appreciate it. Of course, this point ranks last—it’s the icing on the cake. Yet if a man embodies the first three qualities and provides fundamental material stability, many women will gladly commit wholeheartedly. At that point, even an inexpensive, humble gift can spark genuine delight. Some women also cherish building a shared future with their beloved—a richer, more fulfilling form of love.
These four elements fuse inseparably, reinforcing one another—unified throughout by two words: genuine love. Though life abounds with constraints and compromises, every woman possesses keen insight and secretly hopes her partner rises above the ordinary. A man who truly lives by this 16-character mantra is no ordinary being—and even a heart as hard as stone will soften, melt, and yield.
I turn to Shi Ying: “So—will a girl’s heart be moved and melted like this?”
Without hesitation: “Every woman would. I speak for all my sisters.”
Her statement may sound absolute—but mastering even these fundamentals surely makes courting women far less daunting.
What about me back in college? Sorry to disappoint—but laughs—back then, I was clueless: ignorant of love’s essence, baffled by how to express it or pursue it. All I carried was starry-eyed idealism, burning passion, and a trembling, feverish heart—timidly approaching her… and—chuckles wryly—well, you get the picture.
Writing this now holds little personal significance—I can never return to those days, nor reclaim the 20-year-old me. Consider it instead a Christmas gift—offered to whoever happens upon it. Whether you agree or disagree, please reflect deeply—and cherish everything and everyone close to you!
